Scarlet macaws are very present around the Amazon rainforest. This one happened to land on a tree right next to the cabin where I was staying and I was able to get this shot, straight out of the window. It’s pretty magical getting to see these endangered animals flying in the wild and watching the vibrant color palette of their feathers slowly revealing under the natural sunlight of the jungle.

The natural colors of these hills from the Death Valley, CA are from volcanic deposits rich in iron oxides and chlorite, which create a rainbow effect.
The idea behind this image was to compress the scene as much as possible using a telephoto lens, in order to achieve a two-dimensional effect, which therefore resembled a flat color palette. A random subject hiked all the way up the hill and happened to stand perfectly in this frame to snap this shot :)

That early morning there were no waves. Instead, a unique sense of serenity and calmness as the glassy ocean and the marine layer became one and disappeared softly into the horizon.

“When I arrived in Barra da Tijuca after a long day of hiking, I noticed the big waves and the higher tide flooding the lower part of the beach, creating a perfect natural mirror. Whilst the kite surfers enjoyed the wind, three young boys ran back and forth relentlessly across the water chasing each other around and simulating a football game using an old coconut. Their innocent laughs and the sound of their feet splashing against the water merged seamlessly into the soft music of the waves flowing in the background and the sun setting behind the hills. Almost as if time slowed down, gentle thoughts ran through my mind. This moment extended for no more than 2 minutes, before the fishermen took over the front of the beach hoping to catch some fresh dinner for the evening”.

About this image: “It was around noon when I took this picture. The sun was high and the light was harsh, but the dense canopy of the jungle partially blocked the sun rays. I laid down so I could find the right angle where the sunlight lit only the face of this big iguana, and then lowered the exposure to create a natural dark background.”

LIMITED EDITION
There is nothing like locking eyes with a wild mountain gorilla and feeling what can only be described as a human connection.
Laying on my belly, holding my breath, and trying to stay focused while silently releasing the shutter 10ft from these unbelievable creatures was not an easy task. Very few times I have had to move my eye away from the viewfinder to take a deep breath, and this was definitely one of them. It's hard to control your emotions when these animals make eye contact with you. You know it's not a threatening gaze, but that's exactly how it feels. Their way of looking is so intense, you feel the need to avert your eyes for a few seconds, just to feel a bit safer. You look down, you double check your camera settings, and you slowly turn your eyes back to this magnificent animal, just to realise he hasn't lost sight of you. Not for a second. It's scary and it's intimidating, but above all, it is a life-changing experience for your comprehension of animal intelligence.
For this image, I laid down and waited in order to get in a position where the sun rays lit only the lower part of the face, which made capturing this image even more interesting - 2018

TRAVEL
Some of the best stories I have been able to write in my diary came from adventures around the world. Exploring unknown places, learning about people’s lives, and making genuine connections with fellow humans is a priceless gift to our soul.
-
STREETS
The place where most of the brief encounters between strangers and the lens occur. Wandering the world’s streets documenting the human essence is one of the most beautiful acts as a photographer.
-
PORTRAITS
Some of the humans featured in this gallery I only crossed paths with for a brief second; others, for a couple minutes or a few hours, and some I have known for my whole life. All different and all unique in their own way.

LIFESTYLE
Random captures of cool stuff I see every day and some images from commercial projects

NATURAL WORLD
From mountains to oceans, through forests, jungles, and deserts. Spending time in nature and exploring Planet Earth’s wild corners has led me to some amazing encounters that I share in this collection.

"In a nutshell, when you travel you don't know if you will return, but when you do, you come back as a different person. If you don't, it simply didn't happen."

"Worlds Within" - May the world outside lead the journey inside
is a collection of images and experiences I have put together over the last 10 years traveling the world. It contains stories and pictures of people, places, and moments, but also deeper reflections and thoughts of my own self and life as a nomad.

On July 7, 2022 my buddy Felix and I embarked on a life-changing adventure: to traverse on foot, unguided self-supported, the entire length of the desert of Lençóis Maranhenses. To this date, it remains as one of the most breathtaking places I have ever seen and one of the most eye-opening experiences I have ever lived.
